Satan first attacked humanity through Eve. This is because of the nature of women. God created woman to be a helper appropriate for Adam. This included an inclination to trust in, depend on, and follow the leadership of a husband. Satan was able to insert himself in the natural greater trust that Eve had and exploit that through his deception.

Part of the consequence of the first sin was a disturbance in the relationship between men and women.

The word 'desire' here is the Hebrew word teshu^qa^h meaning a stretching out after. A more clear understanding of the word can be seen in the next chapter;

Here God tells Cain that sin desires to have mastery over him. From this usage we can gain a little more clarity in that Eve does not have so much a romantic longing for Adam, but an inclination to take from him his position of leadership.

Satan has made great use of this wedge that exists between men and women going so far as to promote the idea of men and women being equal. It is interesting to observe the fury that is reserved for anyone who so much as hints that men and women are not equal.

With the industrial revolution and making labor a commodity, the value of women began to be gauged in economic rather than domestic terms. An honored wife and mother became instead a resource that could generate an income. Husbands could be seen sort of as pimps profiting from the exploitation of their wives.

When public education came along, women were sold the idea that they were too stupid to teach the children God gave them as this could only be achieved by educated specialists and so their children were taken from them. Left alone with cleaning machinery, women oversaw empty homes and were vulnerable to the discontent often associated with boredom. Satan made effective use of the various media outlets to reach women robbed of the life for which they were intended. Many of these became convinced that the joys of working as a drone in a corporate hive were being kept from them by selfish husbands who wanted to exploit them as domestic slaves.

One can see the promotion of women in society not only as a result of Satanic deception. A case can be made that such ascendency is also allowed to punish people for turning their back on God.
