Christianity was supposed to be about becoming like Jesus. We went in the wrong direction.

There are Giants in the Land

Almost everyone would define capitalism as the opposite of Communism. However, corporate capitalism might be seen as closer to Communism being an economic collective. When legal status was given to these enterprises, it was like setting giant robots out crushing anything smaller they encountered like small businesses. Militarism accomplished something similar in that if one country builds a bigger army, its neighbors feel compelled to keep up. Countries that are unable to compete are often taken over.

God instituted different languages to limit collective enterprises as such would enable mankind to plot a collective path away from Him. Satan however, needs collectives as he is unable to be everywhere at once, he needs to leverage his control through hierarchical systems. It is ironic that in our country that was founded on a desire for individual liberty we are voluntarily advancing the collectivist state. There are several reasons for this all guided by Satan to achieve his objectives.

Just as militarism dives individuals to seek the relative safety of their own military collective, economic collectivism drives the individual to seek employment in an economic collective such as a corporation. As a result, people are herded into increasingly larger collectives. In addition to the economic incentives to leave failing smaller enterprises, one often finds less difficulty in simply performing a single function as opposed to the myriad demands of running one’s own business.

Individuals would seldom select a bureaucracy as a lifelong work environment. However, the educational system is ideally suited to prepare children after 12 stultifying years to take their place as components in these economic juggernauts. Churches also can fall victim to competing organizational systems that scale up. Often church “success” is measured by number of members. As with corporations, money and size determine strength, power, and influence.

A particularly strong indicator that one is a component in a collective is that you as an individual are not really known much less cared for. Caring is a relational phenomena and collectives do not do relationships. The bible often describes us and God in familial terms. Families do relationships. Relationships are hard because we can be very selfish. Relationships can be made easier with the selfless love the God offers each one of us individually.

Satan’s giant robots roam the earth promising pleasure, comfort, ease, and indulgence of every whim. However, it is only following the sometimes difficult path of selflessness that we can draw closer to God and escape the consumptive corruption that selfishness brings. There will come a time when the giants Satan has loosed upon the earth will be slain.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. - Revelation 19:11-15
