Christianity was supposed to be about becoming like Jesus.
We went in the wrong direction.

What is wrong with Education?

There are few ideas as cherished as how important education is. It would follow that any discourse on education from an unfavorable perspective would be unwelcome. I would ask patience from the viewer such that consideration could be given to the difference between learning and education and to the possibility that our present system of education actually frustrates true learning, accomplishes indoctrination into the state religion of secularism, and acts to further the goals of global collectivism.

Education

What is the difference between education and learning?

Learning

What is done to you What you do
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.- 2 Peter 2:1
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.  Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.  But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. - 2 Timothy 3:7-9
Foundation of learning
Apprenticeship has been the model of instruction for most of the history of the world. We can imagine Jesus being instructed by His earthly father Joseph in the trade of carpentry. The key elements in this type of instruction are relationship, context, application, direction and correction. It is purposeful and relevant to a task at hand.
An apprentice can be shown how to build a chair. He will observe the truth of what he is taught in the physical properties of the chair (consistent with the created world).  If he receives bad instruction, the chair will not last. He can be told how to conduct himself with customers and suppliers. He can observe that if he has been instructed to be greedy and cheat people, he will lose business. Learning is best when it is based on truth, observable, and practical.

Foundation of Education

It was important to Satan to advance his deceptions in the world. To do this he needed to change instruction so that it was abstract and not immediately identifiable as true or false. This allowed him to mix in his deceptions so that they would be taken in as truth.

It was also important for him to intercept parental instruction so that he could substitute his own. As a step in his plan to collectivize the world, he introduced factory type education to be executed by those who present only "approved" information. It took centuries, but he was able to institute a system that is monopolistic, compulsory, abstract, and allows him to pass off his ideas as "truth".
Socrates while teaching a slave boy, turns to Meno and says, "Do you observe Meno, that I am not teaching the boy anything, but merely asking him each time". Here is an example of a teacher teaching a teacher. The emphasis is on the teacher. This would be similar to, "Do you observe Meno that I made the sun come up again?"

A man was told that in order for his son to receive a student loan for college, he would have to attend a class. In the class he was told that the loan had to be repaid. It was apparent to this man that there was a problem with student loans not being repaid. As a result, some bureaucrat must have come to the conclusion that the reason the loans were not being repaid was that no one had been instructed (educated) in this regard. The solution was to have a class as opposed to making a penalty for not repaying the loan.

In the Bible the rich man asked Abraham to have Lazarus go back and warn his brothers. However, he was told that they had Moses and the prophets and that if they were not inclined to believe them, they would not believe even if one came back from the dead.

Man is not a blank slate upon which a teacher writes. Man is sinful and driven to harm himself and others by his selfishness. Man needs truth. Education implies you will be all right as long as you shut up, sit down, and do what you are told. Education is about transmitting data or instructions to compliant components of a collective.

Learning is not about receiving data. It is about integrating truth into your life.

How learning became "education"

Divorce of knowledge from truth
  • Truth is from God and is found in His word and His Son.
  • Without God, man is left to classify, categorize, describe, and define the world he sees.
  • Man then seeks to control, regulate, and apply force to this world to conform it to his will.
  • Self becomes the measure of all things.
Greek methods of instruction
  • The Greek "academy" was the arena where the concept of master of a craft was hijacked and applied to gifted and persuasive speakers like Socrates such that they became viewed as masters of truth when they were only masters of pontification. The idea that the bombastic declarations of an obtuse intellectual are golden pearls is still with us today.
  • The idea that "smart" men know best how to run the lives of others would be resurrected to fuel the so-called age of enlightenment.
Religious instruction at the time of Jesus
  • In the Old Testament there are 613 commandments (248 dos and 365 don’ts). The Pharisees turned them into thousands of regulations. They contrived to control God's word by claiming superior knowledge of the system of rules they had made.
  • The most well known religious teacher at the time of Jesus was Gamaliel. Many sought to study at his feet to learn of his supposed wisdom and knowledge. However, when it came to anything useful, like was Jesus sent from God, his wisdom and knowledge was useless. The best he could come up with was, "But if it be of God...". "If" is the best this teaching could muster.
  • God's word is truth. How sad that "smart" men can spend their entire lives studying it and miss truth completely. They strain at gnats and swallow camels.
Man records his observations of religion in painstaking minutia.
  • Man's ideas about God are turned into a system of rules and rituals.
  • An organized "system" of religion evolves that becomes the standard by which all things are measured.
  • System leaders write more and more about arcane intricacies of their system.
  • Enclaves form to collect and revere these works of men.
Mans words are collected and revered
  • Echoing the Pharisees, students wanting to prove their mettle seek to master these works.
  • An elite core of "scholars" forms and becomes a power in the church.
  • Even non-church men are attracted to obtain this knowledge, power, and prestige.

Religious leaders see their religion as a system of rules that must be painstakingly studied in order to be mastered.
  • Printing makes recorded information widely available.
  • Reformation brings the idea of universal religious instruction.
  • "Enlightenment" joins religious and secular instruction.
  • The idea that truth is learned by study and that the more you work at study, the more godly you become is the natural perspective of religious leaders.
The concept of "education" starts with the sanctimony of the sacred, adds the delusion of the elite, is fueled with the desperation of the ambitious, and is maintained with the iron grip of monopoly.
  • Wholesale industrial education is seen as the best way to control the offspring of immigrant hordes.
  • Having used Christianity to systematize, collectivize, and industrialize instruction, it is brought  into the public arena so that any vestigial remnant of Christianity can be expunged.

Education is supported by those who see it as the pathway to "success".

  • The pursuit of money, prestige, power, or fame seldom brings lasting satisfaction.
  • Those who have education with little ability find few opportunities and great disappointment.
  • Those with ability and an education often find employment leaves little time for a life.
  • It is easy to see why those who are "friends" with the world are called enemies of God.

What education is today

Fraudulent
  • Bright children learn, dim ones do not.
  • Anyone who has time, books, and someone to ask will learn how to read. It is not a mystical complicated process that only be achieved by a specially trained teacher.
  • Claiming credit for the child who learns is only slightly less despicable than blaming a child for failing to be taught.
Boring
  • Abstract information  not relevant to something tangible is uninteresting and will not be remembered.
  • Without relationship, children are left isolated in an artificial and unnatural environment.
  • Exposure to tedium makes children more malleable.
Social dependency
  • Like prison inmates who learn to depend on gangs, school children often develop an unhealthy group dependency.
  • Organizational systems are antithetical towards individuals.
  • Organizational systems are intrinsically socialist because they function most efficiently when everyone does what he is told.
Brain washing
  • Access to the minds of children has been the goal of every tyrant.
  • The growth of socialism and the abandonment of Christianity is proportional to the growth of compulsory education.
  • School is the place where even the name of Jesus is forbidden to be mentioned.
  • The goal of public education is children trained to serve the state.
Unnecessary
  • Educators often claim their work is not only essential but critical as if someone is incapable of doing something before they are officially trained.
  • There is not much learned in K-12 that is of any real use. Reading, writing, and arithmetic would be learned by any capable child without school at all.
  • Socialists always seize control of something basic so they can claim credit for having made it and controlling it.
Learning from other children
  • Smoking, drinking, drugs, and sex are often activities that start in school.
  • Children are immersed in a common culture established by television and music.
  • The truth is that most children really would jump off a cliff if their friends did too.
  • The Bible says that bad company corrupts good morals.
Daycare
  • For parents who want to get as much money as possible, schools give them a place to dump their children while two incomes are generated.
  • Most parents simply do what everyone else does.
  • Abandoning the children God gave you is made easier by thinking that it is really "good" for the children to get an education.

How to survive education and other collectivist forces
  Family as fortress
  • Considering how much effort Satan has put into destroying the family, one may deduce that its strength is of considerable importance to those who wish to escape his clutches.
  • A family that serves Jesus has a foundation of truth and love.
  • Truth is the key to fighting the deluding, coercive, and corrosive forces that Satan has unleashed against the family.
  Real instruction

Moses told Israel the model for the instruction of children, family immersion in the word of God.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.  - Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Walking in truth.

Jesus is the way the truth and the life.

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. - John 8:1-32

  Home school
  • Home school should be home learning, not school in the home.
  • A child is best able to develop a joy of learning that lasts a lifetime from a parent that loves them.
  • A child's natural talents and inclinations are better nurtured and directed by a parent that has their best interests as their highest concern.
Paternal leadership
  • There are few ideas that are so intensely hated by the world as fathers who lead in their homes.
  • Fathers who do not know how to lead their families need to learn. Failing to lead your family in faithfulness to Christ is a tragic act of negligence.
    TV
  • TV is a portal of the world that comes into our homes. Satan wants to lure us and our children through it into the artificial world he has created.
  • It is possible to use TV as an instruction tool to teach our children what the world is like and how people are taken captive.
  • TV is a dangerous tool that many prefer not to have in their homes.

Separation from the world
  • You may have to say no to a new car, big house, "good" job, or social acceptance.
  • Education seeks to integrate (weave) your children into the fabric of the world and away from Jesus.
  • You may have to live without many of the amenities of this world and trust in the Lord.
Seeking those who are truly seeking the Lord
  • Jesus is the light of the world. As people turn from the light, it becomes more difficult to find others who still seek it. Those who still seek the light, need to reach out to each other for fellowship, encouragement, and even help as the world becomes increasingly hostile to those who reject it.
  • We need to do more than just resist the evil in the world. We need to help and be helped by each other. This often requires a connection with other Christians outside of church or other worldly systems.
